Carl W. Sharsmith Herbarium, San Jose State University - Lichens (SJSU)Founded in 1945 by Dr. Carl Sharsmith, the herbarium at San Jose State University houses a collection of more than 18,500 dried plant specimens. Many specimens were collected over Dr. Sharsmith's long career as a university professor and natural history ranger at Yosemite National Park. The collection is actively curated with approximately 500 new specimens being added every year.
