Description.Life form: lichenized fungus.
Thallus crustose, thin, green; vegetative diaspores absent. Photobiont trentepohlioid alga. Ascomata lirellae, abundant, in crowded clusters, < 2 mm long, immersed, straight or curved, occasionally once-branched with white, crumbling exciple, giving the thallus appearance of a mosaic of green and white patches; disk a slit. Exciple not carbonized; hymenium not inspersed. Asci 2-8-spored; ascopores hyaline, muriform, 35-78 × 18-36 µm.
Chemistry. No substances detected by TLC.
Substrate and Habitat. Corticolous on trees.
Distribution. India, southeastern North America; in North Carolina found in the Coastal Plain ecoregion.
